Intel Core i7-14700KF

Upgraded to the i7-14700KF mainly for development work and it’s been a strong improvement. Large projects compile faster, running an IDE plus Docker containers and a pile of browser tabs is effortless, and the system stays responsive even when something heavy is going on in the background. The “minor nitpicks” for me are mostly around heat and power: it boosts hard and can run hot if your cooler or case airflow isn’t up to it, and the default motherboard settings can push it pretty aggressively. After setting sensible power limits and adjusting fan curves, it’s been stable and quiet while still performing great. Overall, a very capable CPU if you plan the cooling properly.

This has been an excellent upgrade for photo and video editing. Playback is smoother, exports are noticeably quicker, and I can keep working while renders run without the whole PC feeling sluggish. The extra cores help a lot when I’m doing heavier edits or multitasking with multiple apps open. Stability has been flawless—no crashes, no weird glitches, no “tuning” required beyond normal setup. With a decent cooler it stays under control and the performance feels consistently strong. If you do creative work and want a CPU that simply chews through workloads, this one delivers.
